IF YOU'VE HEARD MY INTERVIEW WITH VOODOO LARRY about how he got started into the world of Rods & Customs, you'll understand how his passion was ignited and how he keeps that flame burning everyday of his life. And, in keeping with that, he created a true icon-signature ride that was dubbed "The Voodoo Idol".
I was privileged to see this superb piece of craftsmanship at the KKOA 30th Anniversary Celebration in July, 2010, and I can tell you first hand that to see it in person is to understand how much work went into it, how much quality's been built into it, how it epitiomizes Larry's love for Customs, and how well he puts that love into a true "driveable dream".
Unless you're really versed in classic, fat-fendered Fords, you could easily miss out on the fact that this beautiful creation started out as a '46 Deluxe Coupe ! The night I first saw it in Salina, a stock '46 Coupe was parked next to Larry...and the difference was that the stocker was about 3 feet taller !
Larry's "Idol" has been chopped, channeled, lowered, widened, has '49 Plymouth taillights, a '47 Stude grille...and, over 40 body mods altogether. But, just listen to this Interview, and you'll understand how Larry accomplished building this legendary custom in just 13 months !
Voodoo Larry is truly one of the BEST of the new breed of customizers, and when you do listen to this Interview, you'll find out why this fantastic machine was named "The Voodoo Idol". JK
