ALAN MAYES, Managing Editor of Ol' Skool Rodz & Car Kulture DeLuxe, talks with Jonnie in this Exclusive Interview from 2007 about BUCK OWENS last Interview which was done for Car Kulture DeLuxe #15 in 2006.
Buck Owens loved cars, and had some great ones in his collection like the '51 Carson-Topped Merc and the '47 Merc Convertible shown below:
PLUS, Pop Music "Hall of Fame" Member, GENE PITNEY, had his '57 Ford Custom (shown below) also in that Issue. Gene's car was originally owned & built on the East Coast by John "Moose" North.
SINCE THAT TIME, that particular Issue, Car Kulture DeLuxe, Issue #15, has come to be known as the Legendary CKD "DEATH ISSUE" ! You'll hear Alan explain why in this Interview !
( And, by the way, could this have turned out to be Jonnie's last Interview too ??)
STRANGE BUT TRUE: BUCK OWENS died March 25th, 2006 at the age of 76. GENE PITNEY passed away 11 days later (April 5th, 2006). He was 66.
Was this just a quirk of fate, a coincidence, or because they were BOTH in CKD #15 ?
Find a copy, read it, and make your own decision...but, whatever you do, don't close your eyes and try to go to sleep afterwards while holding this Issue ! Please, just try to stay awake as long as you can. JK
OH ! BY THE WAY, for kool merch, info, pix, and lots of other neat stuff, make sure you check-out the CKD/OSR KOOLHOUSE PUBLISHING Website ! It's an experience you won't forget ! www.koolhousepublishing.com
